My artistic practice revolves around narratives and intangible entities, constructing fictional stories outside the patriarchal discourse within the interstices of time and space. Rooted in anti-anthropocentrism and animism, I place moving images, photographs, sounds, poems, and sculptures outside the confines of the white cube, seeking connections with distant ecologies, mysticism, and healing amidst deep forests and flowing rivers.
By constantly treading the outdoors, I delve into the history, customs, and myths of specific regions, presenting the stories through poetry. Sound becomes a key element in this process. I make field recordings to capture the sounds of nature and the environment. Sensory experience, symbols and the development of sensuality are important features of my work. By capturing fragments of emotional and physical experiences, I build specific symbols and metaphors to integrate them into my narrative universe.
The themes I focus on relate to pre-patriarchal myths, plant decolonisation, and post-human perspectives. I am keen to deconstruct and reinterpret traditional mythological stories, explore their hidden meanings, and relate them to contemporary social and environmental issues. The concept of plant decolonialism leads me to think about the relationship between plants and humans and our predatory use of natural resources. At the same time, I seek to return to the notion of de-anthropocentrism and re-examine our perception of the world by exploring the perspectives and feelings of non-human entities.
